Get off your ass and watch these soldiers speak, and don't just say shit happens in war, learn what's happened to you...

The short version...

The long version...

This is why I love this site, it breaks down the old game for new players.

RABBIT HOLE - http://www.infowars.com/articles/iraq/fake_soldiers_confession_video_cover_real_slaughter.htm

This is also why people fear the internet, there's fake Left propaganda around.

Nonetheless, it's an old game, and I trust the vets I've seen nail it again and again.

RABBIT HOLE - http://www.infowars.com/articles/iraq/fake_soldiers_confession_video_cover_real_slaughter.htm

It's a pretty spectacular ruse, and if you didn't read about it here you might have a radically different opinion - or be abysmally cynical about the efforts of the anti-fascists who can see this for more than a "hoax". Michelle Malkin is evil, hot, but evil, and that makes her not-hot. She does act like she's speaking to the retarded though (excuse my gauche), or perhaps a group of mean children who enjoy mirthless mocking.

Either way, why isn't anyone investigating this?

I mean, the army's a paranoid motherfucker, they wil' out on random Arabs at Gitmo, Abu Ghraib, Baghram Airbase, and probably a few hundred other "secret prisons" around the world that have their own "worse" even more secret versions of the same - AND they hate it when we talk about it. ("Psst! That means you! Now hush and keep moving, there are Fingermen everywhere!")

You think they'd take someone impersonating a soldier and telling tall-tales of exaggerated violence and U.S. military brutality in the alleged murder of hundreds of innocent Iraqi civilians... and charge them. Or arrest them. Or find them and say "STOP LYING ABOUT THE ACTIONS OF THE U.S. MILITARY IN IRAQ!" and add some appropriate censure or threat.

But instead, the only report from Malkin was the army said "They have no record of a soldier named Jeremy MacBeth at their base", and plus his whole uniform was on wrong.

I was checking out how many people have downloaded and seen the films "9/11: The Road to Tyranny" and "Martial Law 9/11: Rise of the Police State" at:

(It's the second result in a google search of "black krishna", I do that sometimes.)

And on the "9/11:TRTT" page, at:

Every American Has To SEE This:

I checked their site and saw the picture of planet earth that Malkin mentions is the only thing left on the site, as it has replaced their earlier excessive celebration of the fake soldier video. I know, I checked it anyway to see if their were "Peace Films" there to see or download. But instead I got nuthin', nuthin' but a picture of the planet. And this was after being on the "9/11:TRTT" free download page, an Alex Jones film, which means it's easy to discredit in some eyes that have never seen any of his stuff. Once you do it sticks to your ribs. And better yet, your brain.

I hadn't heard of any other sites that had mentioned it neither - a soldier coming clean about atrocities would've been a huge story among peace activists had there been any involved in validating it.

I just checked there now, and while you can click the earth to enter what comes next looks. Suspiciously. Shitty.

See for yourself at:

There are no frames, no contact info, just videos of mostly moms and speeches and random links to liberal sites. Most liberals aren't like this. They're nice. They'll say hello, and want you to say hello too.

There's no way to say hello. At all.

I think the Right are putting up fake Left websites as straw-men to burn down with the hot glare of their media control.

Put it this way, if the only place you get your news from is corporate media, you probably think the peaceniks are idiots - either sympathetically or maliciously.

And, beyond controlling the portrayal of "Cindy Sheehan" as "far-Left", why not set up evidence of gross incomptence and willful deception too? I mean, then as the Right-Wing media you don't even have to show your viewers that the "Left" exists, and they'll go the way of the Aboriginal, a once proud people. And, be replaced like the Aboriginals, with images you have no say in, and in fact, find inaccurate and offensive.

I know versions of this tactic have been done before to discredit people's movements, and anarchists who are really government operatives sometimes show up at peace rallies and start crazy shit, breaking shit, throwing shit, and then disappear just before the police wade in to beat everyone else's ass.

So why not this?

I've broken it down for ya yet another complementary way, check it out and you be the judge. It makes sense, and really, because it does, don't you think as part of all the rest of their sufficient calculations of media control and propaganda tactics they'd figure it out? Don't you think they have a tonne of people working on it? Don't you think that's the point?

This is fascism folks.

The natural deterioration of capitalism collapsing under the weight of - NOT greed, but rather CORRUPTION.

Greed is acceptable, it's something we all subscribe to, and that we all learn to feel as a result of living in a conspicuously consumptive society.

So you can't attack "greed" - it just doesn't work.

At least not on enough people.

Everybody knows they're greedy, and everybody would rather be greedy than needy anyway, and given the increasing gap between the two options - hey, so what.

However... CORRUPTION?

Yeah, that'll work...

I mean...

If you wanna know how Bush has not only survived for the last 5 years, but has in (true!) fact immensely increased his power and control to the point that he can do virtually anything he wants - with the worst of it deliberately hidden, it is, upon even a casual analysis, clear evidence of widespread corruption.

And, the various beneficiaries of the same.

Unfortunately, he's got control of the Attorney General and Supreme Court too, so don't expect taking your case to either to mean a whole lot anymore.

I mean, it used to be that the law was a decent recourse - at least for most. Middle-classe white people had it fairly good, everyone else had varying degrees of success. But, you always thought that the CORRUPTION in the legal system was random and being eliminated in the eternal battle, the result of evil or ignorant people accidentally working their way to the top.

This time the evil is in charge.

Centralizing and concentrating power while always insisting on more in combination with both unprecendented secrecy and propaganda.

And the mass media is on side.

They hit Bush hard enough to make us think he was hit hard, and then they let him go and act like nothing happened. Then we all see a couple of months later that the police state not only marched forward - it's broken into a light trot...

And don't think you're not watching Fox.

You are.

The media doesn't like to criticize itself, so when Fox and other Right-Wing media establishments voice a certain opinion, the rest of the corporate "liberal" (really conservative, neutral and/or lazy) media just follows suit. That's why there's such a uniformity.

In fact, Nazi Minister of Communication Joseph Goebbels once said: "what you want in a media system is an ostensible diversity that conceals an actual uniformity".

Brilliant bastard.

That's what we've got.

You can read more at:

But I digest...

The bottom line is here is the article that spark'd this 'ish, and it's a nifty one.

The neo-fascists are cash-laden and clever, and they have the tools to play us all for fools - especially if the internet is taken away (see: savetheinternet.com) and we're unable to entertain the questions that dent the poll numbers.

Save for the true believers nobody likes Bush, but nobody believes anyone else either, so the massive underground efforts are having their effect - kind of like reaching the threshold of no return. If we had another year of stasis, another year of the exact same rights and freedoms we do now, then it's possible that enough people would realize what's going on.

Unfortunately we don't.

They will erode further, and make the revolution much more difficult.

(Isn't seeing the word "revolution" there scary?)

(If it's not needed - who cares? If the government is doing a good job - then why would they care knowing there's no support from the people? If the government is doing a bad job on purpose and wants to shut up anyone trying to expose them - then you should be scared that you read it just now. Checkmate.)

"Here you go, break it down for 'em Paulie, show'em, show'em, show'em, show'em, show'emwhatchagot..."

Fake Soldier Confession Video Runs As Cover For Real Slaughter

Dilutes impact of genuine war atrocities like phony rape photos distracted from Abu Ghraib

Paul Joseph Watson/Prison Planet.com | May 30 2006

A widely circulated video in which an army ranger confessed to the brutal indiscriminate murder of Iraqi civilians and its vehement debunking as a hoax has acted as a smokescreen for the very real admission and evidence of US war crimes in Iraq.

Working in this field for five years and scanning news on a day to day basis you quickly develop and hone a bullshit detector that can spot hoaxes, psy-ops and frauds from a mile off. As soon as the MacBeth Marine video hit the Internet I smelt a very large rat.

The alternative media community is plagued by deliberate disinformation specialists and gullible individuals who will act as unwitting conduits for bogus information. This minefield of deception breeds confusion, distraction and lowers the credibility of the truth community.

In the video, MacBeth claims that he was part of a unit that regularly killed innocent Iraqis, their wives and children if they didn't explicitly follow orders.

Proof that the video is a hoax is legion. MacBeth's uniform is totally inconsistent with that of a US army ranger and his claimed medals are not verified by any official record. Army spokesman John Boyce said there was no record of MacBeth ever serving.

“Initial research by the U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg shows no Soldier with the name of Jesse Macbeth having ever been assigned to the Special Forces or the Army Rangers -- which are, in fact, two separate disciplines."

At its height, the fake video confession was the number 2 clicked news item across the entire Internet.

The video has eclipsed the real evidence of US war crimes in Iraq. The BBC video above carries bona fide testimony from US soldiers who served in Iraq and were party to killing civilians. To emphasize, this video carries accurate, unimpeachable, and legitimate testimony regarding US war crimes in Iraq.

In addition, charges are expected to be brought against Marines after an investigation into the killing of 24 unarmed civilians in the Iraqi town of Haditha in November. Congressman John Murtha said that the slaughter and its subsequent cover-up could do more to harm the US reputation in Iraq than the Abu Ghraib scandal. To emphasize, this event carries accurate, unimpeachable, and legitimate evidence of US war crimes in Iraq.

The hoax video has allowed Neo-Con media government boot-lickers to discredit all claims of US atrocities in Iraq, despite the fact that the army has admitted to them and charges are pending. This is an exercise in bait and switch and it softens the backlash of opinion against the coalition of the killing when true and verified examples of war crimes are brought to the fore. It dilutes the reaction to a growing body of hardcore evidence of ceaseless atrocities committed against innocent Iraqis.

Fox News wasted no time in exploiting the hoax to whitewash the real issue of war crimes and civilian murders in Iraq. Michelle Malkin (who advocates bringing back internment camps for Muslims) also cited the video as an example of anti-war propaganda and used it to dismiss genuine US-led slaughter in Iraq.

Watch below as fawning Neo-Con Malkin revels in debunking "peace propaganda" by comparing MacBeth's words to John Kerry's Vietnam testimony. This is also the only remaining record of the MacBeth video as all other postings of it have been removed.

News Hounds hit the nail on the head in assessing the consequences of this hoax.

"This segment serves a two-fold purpose. It plants in viewers heads the seed of doubt about stories of atrocities and murder of civilians, just as the Haditha story seems poised to break and expose exactly the kind of behavior dismissed here. For many of FOX's true believers, the Haditha story will be a conspiracy of the liberal media to hurt Bush because they hate him, and this discredited story will bolster their position of denial."

Fox were able to spin the hoax video and offer it as evidence of their ridiculous claim that the turmoil in Iraq is a US media creation and that we really are there to liberate everyone.

In considering the timing of the hoax confession tape it is pertinent to recall a similar instance of bait and switch which occurred at the beginning of the Abu Ghraib scandal.

Two days after the Abu Ghraib torture photos were released, the Internet was flooded with fake rape photos taken from porn websites. So when the actual military report stated that rape did take place at Abu Ghraib, the Neo-Con media junta could discredit and deny it. The Boston Globe inexplicably published these photos days after they were known to be a hoax and then staged-managed an apology, which garnered great attention. Printing the photos and then apologizing was a theatrical set-up to plant seeds of doubt in the minds of the body politic for future release of new photos and allegations.

In addition, staged photos of British soldiers urinating on and beating Iraqis were leaked to the Mirror newspaper in Britain. Despite numerous military eyewitnesses coming forward to say that beatings had taken place, the circus revolved around these few photos which were admitted hoaxes. The public was left with the impression that stories about British troops mistreating Iraqis were fraudulent, even though other cases of abuse had been admitted.

Though the news cycle moves far too quickly to immediately identify a story as a hoax, we should remain guarded in precisely what items we choose to inflate and circulate to a wider audience. Otherwise we're nearly as bad as the White House itself, which produces fake government PR and packages it as 'news' for the indoctrination of a bewildered US television audience.

But you won't see Fox News or Michelle Malkin kick up any fuss about that.

Keanu Reeves Slams Police State As Scanner Lights Up Cannes

Media suggest films show world is in sorry state

Paul Joseph Watson/Prison Planet.com | May 30 2006

Keanu Reeves has slammed the modern day police state and surveillance society, a centerpiece of the upcoming film in which he stars, during promotion for A Scanner Darkly at the Cannes film festival.

In A Scanner Darkly, the government, corporations and the elite conspire together to keep free thinking, free expression, freedom itself on the outside-- to facilitate a perceptive wall confining individuality itself to a realm doomed to the fringes.

The film chronicles how power interests exploit the drug war in order to create unthinking armies of drone servants and erect police state measures to prevent the people from ever glimpsing the dark truth behind a highly mechanized surveillance panopticon.

"Certain personal rights that were protected in the (U.S.) constitution for privacy are being chipped away at under the guise of homeland security without redress, and that's not good," Reeves told Reuters.

Several years ago the media tried to create a stereotype that Keanu Reeves isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, a complete 180 from the truth. Anyone that knows Reeves and has spoken in depth with him comes back with the same impression, that Keanu is a deeply engaged thinker and cares passionately about real issues.

Media reports out of Cannes have focused on the hard-boiled edge of the productions filling the screens this year, which include Aaron Russo's eagerly awaited America: From Freedom to Fascism, saying they represent a mirror for a world in a sorry state.

In reality the overwhelming rush of influential new films tackling topics of war, government control, surveillance and dictatorship are a creative backlash to the tiresome dumbed-down verbal diarrhea dished out by the establishment propagandists.

In a nation where the White House produces fake government PR and packages it as 'news' for the indoctrination of a bewildered US television audience, movies like Scanner are a refreshing challenge to the conformist driven orthodoxy.

The outstanding Scanner Darkly website is continually updated and has a new audio clip of one of Alex's rants from the movie.

Click here for the website and then click 'substance D'.

A Scanner Darkly is set for release on July 7.

Bilderberg Conferences

The Bilderberg conference is the most powerful political and economic gathering on earth. Incredibly the world's press are never informed that the meeting is happening until it is over. If they do find out it is happening they are not allowed near the conference while it is taking place. There are a handful of journalists inside, one is the editor of The Economist, but they never mention the meeting in their publications.

This year's dates and venue have now been revealed.

Bilderbergers Nervous About Canada’s PM

By James P. Tucker Jr.

Bilderbergers are nervous about their host for this year’s secret meeting near Ottawa, Canada.

But this is not the first time the new Conservative prime minister, Stephen Harper, has been part of this elite group of secret world leaders. Harper was photographed at the 2003 meeting in Versailles, France.

The Kyoto Treaty to reduce air and water pollution is a Bilderberg baby and Canada signed off on it years ago. Former President Bill Clinton, a Bilderberger, dutifully embraced Kyoto. But test votes showed it would be rejected overwhelmingly by the Senate if submitted for ratification. So it remains in White House files, much to Bilderberg distress.

The new Canadian prime minister may also be ruffling feathers among Bilderbergers.

At UN climate talks that ended May 26 in Bonn, Germany, Canada said it is unable to meet a legally binding target to cut emissions of heat-trapping gases by 2012 and that it will take part in an extension only if all nations agree.

“The Canadian government of Stephen Harper is trying to sabotage 15 years of international efforts to address climate change,” the Climate Action Network said.

Negotiators from 163 nations that have signed onto the UN’s Kyoto Treaty met in Bonn to discuss ways to extend it beyond 2012 to prevent climate changes they say cause heat waves, droughts and floods.

Canadian newspapers reported that Ottawa had instructed its Canadian negotiators, saying: “Canada will not support agreement on language in the work program that commits developed countries to more stringent targets in the future.”

Poor nations signed on easily because they are required to do nothing and are exempt from limitations placed on “industrialized countries.” For example, Mexico can build smokestack industries on its U.S. border. If the United States signed, even more U.S. industries would move to Mexico where they have no restraints and are not burdened with U.S. laws on ecology, minimum wages or required benefits, such as paid vacations.

But Kyoto was pushed by Bilderberg for the same reasons it wants a direct UN tax, favors NAFTA and the WTO and turned NATO into the UN’s standing army, among other actions: it is a step on the road to creating world government.

When Bilderberg gathers behind armed guards at the Brook Street Resort near Ottawa June 8-11, Harper will greet the 120 leaders in international finance and politics for the second time in his life. But even as they politely applaud, Bilderbergers will eye Harper with suspicion.

AFP correspondent James P. Tucker Jr. is a veteran journalist who spent many years as a member of the “elite” media in Washington. Since1975 he has won widespread recognition, here and abroad, for his pursuit of on-the-scene stories reporting the intrigues of global power blocs such as the Bilderberg Group and the Trilateral Commission.

Bilderberg to Meet in Canada

By James P. Tucker Jr.

The secretive group known as Bilderberg will hold its annual secret meeting at the posh Brook Street Resort a few miles from Ottawa, Canada, June 8-11.

The location and part of the agenda was disclosed to American Free Press by a source inside Bilderberg’s inner circle.

High on the Bilderberg’s secret agenda this year are oil prices and the political upheaval in Latin America. When meeting last year in Rottach-Egern, Germany, Bilderberg called for dramatic increases in the price of oil. Oil prices started climbing immediately from $40 a barrel to $70.

Whether Bilderberg will call for still higher prices is unclear, but Henry Kissinger and others had gleefully anticipated ultimate prices at $150 a barrel a year ago. Bilderberg is certainly concerned about supply, which is related to the “Latin American problem,” as one insider said.

Approximately 120 international leaders in politics and finance will also discuss the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, which has caused a rare breach between American Bilderbergers and their European counterparts since the United States Iraq invasion in 2003. Whether the United States should invade Iran is also high on the agenda.

Bilderberg is especially concerned about Venezuela, where as part of a plan to increase revenues from its petroleum industry President Hugo Chavez said May 7 he would impose a new tax on companies that extract oil from his country. Big Oil is represented at Bilderberg by Jeroen van der Veer of The Netherlands, chairman of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group and Franco Bernabe of Italy, vice chairman of Rothschild Europe, among others. “We are going to create a new oil tax, called the tax on extraction,”

Chavez said. “The companies that are pumping oil in Venezuela are making a lot of money.”

Chavez accused foreign oil companies of exploiting his country’s vast petroleum reserves without paying sufficient taxes. Venezuela is the world’s fifth-largest oil exporter but has troubled oil barons by sending cheap petroleum to needy American families and subsidizing domestic use so local citizens pay 12 cents a gallon.

Venezuela has voided oil-pumping contracts with private companies at 32 fields and replaced them with a mixed-company model that gave Venezuela’s state-owned Petroleos de Venezuela SA a minimum 60 percent stake. Chavez has also sharply raised royalties and taxes, and reduced potential drilling acreage by almost two-thirds. He is also resisting expansion of NAFTA throughout the hemisphere, a prime Bilderberg goal.

Chavez’s outspoken criticisms of the United States make it unlikely that American Bilderbergers can help smooth over the supply problem. However, banker David Rockefeller’s family has always had a heavy interest in oil and other investments in South America.

President Bush will have a top White House aide representing him at Bilderberg, and high officials of the state, defense and treasury departments will attend. Heads of state and other high officials in government and banking will attend from Europe and Canada.

Bilderberg’s agenda also includes the turmoil in the Middle East, nuclear proliferation, with an emphasis on Iran, North Korea and Pakistan, and global warming.

The Bilderberg group takes it name from the hotel in Holland where the group met in 1954, during the earliest period of its inception. Bilderbergers meet regularly, presumably on a once-a-year basis, at various locations around the world, always in extreme secrecy, often at resorts controlled by either the Rockefeller or Rothschild families. The Rothschild family is the leading European force within the Bilderberg Group, sharing its power with the American-based Rockefeller empire.

Bilderberg maintains an extremely low profile and seldom, if ever, publishes reports or studies for the public, at least, under its own official aegis. Participants denied the groups very existence for decades until it was forced into the open by the glare of media publicity, generated largely by the now defunct Spotlight newspaper.

We know...

It's okay..."

"Get out' the way!
You slowin' down,
The fast lane, of progress,
Keep, gettin' it messed,
We'll never get, to the projects,
In context,
I'm sayin', watch where you aimin',
'Cause all the petty shamin'-
Ain't gonna play with the layman,
And power cravin', and ravin',
Over our dug-graves, of thug-slaves,
Like we gettin' caught in Plato's cave,
Like Osama Bin Paid, to make us afraid,
Who knows?
Hell - they do!
Those who knew, by hour two,
That despite they' shiny uniforms,
They had nuthin' to do,
As 4 planes, switched lanes, in the sky,
And 2 whole hours, passed by,
Nobody asked, why there's no fly-by?
No one even tries, to say it,
Back in the day?
It was cool as a kid, to know it and say it!
So we'd say it!
Back in the Cold War,
That's the old war,
This' a new war,
With new toys, for the old-boys clubbin',
We baby seals in the club,
And it's about time,
We end the clubbin',
As our sad, dark eyes,
Realize, the bad guys,
No longer even have to disguise their lies,
C'mon guys!
So kick-ass, and have a fries with that,
Either skinny or fat,
Gotta take back the pie,
Before there's not even a snack,
'Cause the crack, of the whip, we can feel,
So real as the heel,
Of the jackboot, or steel, we kneel,
We daily gettin' weaker,
Save for the truth-seeker,
With a loudspeaker,
You really wanna blow her mind?
Go on dawg, freak her...

We know...

It's okay..."

"I guess we gotta Right to be an idiot...
Like an ostrich man,
Go on, bury ya head in the sand,
If you can't understand The Man'll jack you for a grand,
Then you can't understand, that's simply the plan,
So, if that's the case,
And you still, look him in the face,
What's a couple of mill' worth?
In taking your place?
F'sho the money talk,
But The Money Masters, talk faster,
The Money Masters master, capital disaster,
Since usuary, abusin' usually, the foolishly,
Feebly, indeed, the deed, is done, so easily,
When Jesus said-
Oh wait, Jesus dead.
If you read what he said,
You should, be gettin' red,
You should, be gettin' bread,
Body'n'blood of Christ,
But if not,
Wash ya mouth out twice..."

'Cause you can't talk about-

The Money Masters,
The Money Masters,

If you see a disaster,
You know who to go after,

The Money Masters,
The Money Masters,

The big factor,
Behind, O'Reilly's "The Factor"...

("Fuck you O'Reilly!")

"The Money Masters, master fate,
And at Skull and Bones, they master-debate,
They' rule over fools, by blue-bloods, at blue-schools,
So: who gave 'em they' tools?
And: who gave 'em they' schools?
And: who forgot to tell us the rules?
And: who playin' us for fools?
There's rules to this game
God-given, God-taken,
God'll waken to the shaken,
If the shaken ever waken,
Breakin' backs, either be kickin' facts, or gettin' lax,
Gettin' down, when the settin's on wax,
In vinyl stacks,
Gettin' down, when the settin's hi-tech,
Check the 'net to inspect, the stacked-deck,
And who we really gotta upset, to chin-check,
There's too much crap, but it ain't just rap,
And if you listen real close,
You can hear rap, takin' it back,
From backpack's to Iraq,
We climbin' out of a trap,
But the last fact, to blast-back,
Is the money behind the attacks..."

You better talk about-

The Money Masters,
The Money Masters,

If you see a disaster,
You know who to go after,

The Money Masters,
The Money Masters,

The big factor,
Behind, O'Reilly's "The Factor"...

("Fuck you O'Reilly!")

Top 10 Signs of the Impending U.S. Police State

Allan Uthman, Buffalo Beast. | May 26 2006

Is the U.S. becoming a police state? Here are the top 10 signs that it may well be the case.

1. The Internet Clampdown

One saving grace of alternative media in this age of unfettered corporate conglomeration has been the internet. While the masses are spoon-fed predigested news on TV and in mainstream print publications, the truth-seeking individual still has access to a broad array of investigative reporting and political opinion via the world-wide web. Of course, it was only a matter of time before the government moved to patch up this crack in the sky.

Attempts to regulate and filter internet content are intensifying lately, coming both from telecommunications corporations (who are gearing up to pass legislation transferring ownership and regulation of the internet to themselves), and the Pentagon (which issued an "Information Operations Roadmap" in 2003, signed by Donald Rumsfeld, which outlines tactics such as network attacks and acknowledges, without suggesting a remedy, that US propaganda planted in other countries has easily found its way to Americans via the internet). One obvious tactic clearing the way for stifling regulation of internet content is the growing media frenzy over child pornography and "internet predators," which will surely lead to legislation that by far exceeds in its purview what is needed to fight such threats.

2. "The Long War"

This little piece of clumsy marketing died off quickly, but it gave away what many already suspected: the War on Terror will never end, nor is it meant to end. It is designed to be perpetual. As with the War on Drugs, it outlines a goal that can never be fully attained -- as long as there are pissed off people and explosives. The Long War will eternally justify what are ostensibly temporary measures: suspension of civil liberties, military expansion, domestic spying, massive deficit spending and the like. This short-lived moniker told us all, "get used to it. Things aren't going to change any time soon."

Did anyone really think this was going to be temporary? Yes, this disgusting power grab gives the government the right to sneak into your house, look through all your stuff and not tell you about it for weeks on a rubber stamp warrant. Yes, they can look at your medical records and library selections. Yes, they can pass along any information they find without probable cause for purposes of prosecution. No, they're not going to take it back, ever.

4. Prison Camps

This last January the Army Corps of Engineers gave Halliburton subsidiary Kellogg Brown & Root nearly $400 million to build detention centers in the United States, for the purpose of unspecified "new programs." Of course, the obvious first guess would be that these new programs might involve rounding up Muslims or political dissenters -- I mean, obviously detention facilities are there to hold somebody. I wish I had more to tell you about this, but it's, you know... secret.

5. Touchscreen Voting Machines

Despite clear, copious evidence that these nefarious contraptions are built to be tampered with, they continue to spread and dominate the voting landscape, thanks to Bush's "Help America Vote Act," the exploitation of corrupt elections officials, and the general public's enduring cluelessness.

In Utah, Emery County Elections Director Bruce Funk witnessed security testing by an outside firm on Diebold voting machines which showed them to be a security risk. But his warnings fell on deaf ears. Instead Diebold attorneys were flown to Emery County on the governor's airplane to squelch the story. Funk was fired. In Florida, Leon County Supervisor of Elections Ion Sancho discovered an alarming security flaw in their Diebold system at the end of last year. Rather than fix the flaw, Diebold refused to fulfill its contract. Both of the other two touchscreen voting machine vendors, Sequoia and ES&S, now refuse to do business with Sancho, who is required by HAVA to implement a touchscreen system and will be sued by his own state if he doesn't. Diebold is said to be pressuring for Sancho's ouster before it will resume servicing the county.

Stories like these and much worse abound, and yet TV news outlets have done less coverage of the new era of elections fraud than even 9/11 conspiracy theories. This is possibly the most important story of this century, but nobody seems to give a damn. As long as this issue is ignored, real American democracy will remain an illusion. The midterm elections will be an interesting test of the public's continuing gullibility about voting integrity, especially if the Democrats don't win substantial gains, as they almost surely will if everything is kosher.

Bush just suggested that his brother Jeb would make a good president. We really need to fix this problem soon.

6. Signing Statements

Bush has famously never vetoed a bill. This is because he prefers to simply nullify laws he doesn't like with "signing statements." Bush has issued over 700 such statements, twice as many as all previous presidents combined. A few examples of recently passed laws and their corresponding dismissals, courtesy of the Boston Globe:

--Dec. 30, 2005: US interrogators cannot torture prisoners or otherwise subject them to cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment.

Bush's signing statement: The president, as commander in chief, can waive the torture ban if he decides that harsh interrogation techniques will assist in preventing terrorist attacks.

--Dec. 30, 2005: When requested, scientific information ''prepared by government researchers and scientists shall be transmitted [to Congress] uncensored and without delay."

Bush's signing statement: The president can tell researchers to withhold any information from Congress if he decides its disclosure could impair foreign relations, national security, or the workings of the executive branch.

--Dec. 23, 2004: Forbids US troops in Colombia from participating in any combat against rebels, except in cases of self-defense. Caps the number of US troops allowed in Colombia at 800.

Bush's signing statement: Only the president, as commander in chief, can place restrictions on the use of US armed forces, so the executive branch will construe the law ''as advisory in nature."

Essentially, this administration is bypassing the judiciary and deciding for itself whether laws are constitutional or not. Somehow, I don't see the new Supreme Court lineup having much of a problem with that, though. So no matter what laws congress passes, Bush will simply choose to ignore the ones he doesn't care for. It's much quieter than a veto, and can't be overridden by a two-thirds majority. It's also totally absurd.

7. Warrantless Wiretapping

Amazingly, the GOP sees this issue as a plus for them. How can this be? What are you, stupid? You find out the government is listening to the phone calls of US citizens, without even the weakest of judicial oversight and you think that's okay? Come on -- if you know anything about history, you know that no government can be trusted to handle something like this responsibly. One day they're listening for Osama, and the next they're listening in on Howard Dean.

Think about it: this administration hates unauthorized leaks. With no judicial oversight, why on earth wouldn't they eavesdrop on, say, Seymour Hersh, to figure out who's spilling the beans? It's a no-brainer. Speaking of which, it bears repeating: terrorists already knew we would try to spy on them. They don't care if we have a warrant or not. But you should.

8. Free Speech Zones

I know it's old news, but... come on, are they fucking serious?

9. High-ranking Whistleblowers

Army Generals. Top-level CIA officials. NSA operatives. White House cabinet members. These are the kind of people that Republicans fantasize about being, and whose judgment they usually respect. But for some reason, when these people resign in protest and criticize the Bush administration en masse, they are cast as traitorous, anti-American publicity hounds. Ridiculous. The fact is, when people who kill, spy and deceive for a living tell you that the White House has gone too far, you had damn well better pay attention. We all know most of these people are staunch Republicans. If the entire military except for the two guys the Pentagon put in front of the press wants Rumsfeld out, why on earth wouldn't you listen?

10. The CIA Shakeup

Was Porter Goss fired because he was resisting the efforts of Rumsfeld or Negroponte? No. These appointments all come from the same guys, and they wouldn't be nominated if they weren't on board all the way. Goss was probably canned so abruptly due to a scandal involving a crooked defense contractor, his hand-picked third-in-command, the Watergate hotel and some hookers.

If Bush's nominee for CIA chief, Air Force General Michael Hayden, is confirmed, that will put every spy program in Washington under military control. Hayden, who oversaw the NSA warrantless wiretapping program and is clearly down with the program. That program? To weaken and dismantle or at least neuter the CIA. Despite its best efforts to blame the CIA for "intelligence errors" leading to the Iraq war, the picture has clearly emerged -- through extensive CIA leaks -- that the White House's analysis of Saddam's destructive capacity was not shared by the Agency. This has proved to be a real pain in the ass for Bush and the gang.

Who'd have thought that career spooks would have moral qualms about deceiving the American people? And what is a president to do about it? Simple: make the critical agents leave, and fill their slots with Bush/Cheney loyalists. Then again, why not simply replace the entire organization? That is essentially what both Rumsfeld at the DoD and newly minted Director of National Intelligence John are doing -- they want to move intelligence analysis into the hands of people that they can control, so the next time they lie about an "imminent threat" nobody's going to tell. And the press is applauding the move as a "necessary reform."

Remember the good old days, when the CIA were the bad guys?
