Amnesty Intellectual: Clear your mind, and take a stand against being abused by power.
And really, that's about it.
There's a bit more to it.
But not much.
We have to forget or question everything we've learned from sources that have proven to be habitual and ritual liars.
We have to understand that the 5 corporations who control our mass media, and the even smaller cabal of bankers that control them, try control our reality with 50 pieces of relevant information they allow a day through their various outlets.
They may be commented on in radically different ways, but the subjects discussed and debated stay the same.
Even if you think at least half of them are lies, such as the need to use torture to extract information - especially since the wars just keep getting worse and worse despite the use of more torture and secret prisons than ever; that we should be scared of lipstick bombs; or that privatizing social security is a good idea, you have to understand that the same powerful people you are told to trust again and again are selling you these same horrible ideas again and again, and forcing you to make up your own versions of the truth.
Or, that's just government and corporate collusion slapping you in the face.
Again and again.
And that's just the government and corporate collusion selling us war.
Again and again.
And that's just good old-fashioned fascism for you.
Again and again.
Tell me the date, time and context for the President of Iran's "We wanna destroy Israel!" quote: you won't find it, and yet somehow in the back of your mind you definitely believe Iran is a "threat" we need to deal with in some fashion right now, as opposed to anything else.
Find me the quotes from Israel about Iran and other Arabs: you'll see a fairly petty back-and-forth history between everybody in the region. Nothing unusual or especially pressing, and no real history of sabre-rattling between Israel and Iran. In fact, Iran was very pro-West under President Khatami, but with no support from the West he was booted out. Go figure.
Find me the widely published U.S. intelligence estimates that suggest Iran is 10 years away from building a nuclear weapon, and find me how often that fact is used to discredit the Bush Administrations suggestions that Iran presents yet another "imminent threat". You can't. Because they don't.
Check the local Israeli media's coverage of this madness, it's a hell of a lot more balanced than North America's and helped "stop" the fighting in Lebanon - something our media never tries to do. After dealing with Arabs for over 50 years, Israeli media sometimes even humanizes the Arabs their government is persecuting - something our media never tries to do.
Now: after they lied about Afghanistan and Iraq, why do you believe they're telling the truth about Iran? And the possible reasons we should use nuclear weapons on them?
Because even if you know they're lying, some of the lies slip through.
Especially the ones about foreign madmen trying to kill us all, or foreign fascists trying to kill us all.
Unfortunately that's scary stuff.
But it's also a stage-managed lie and fabrication, especially since it was Halliburton who sold Iran much of their nuclear technology, and it also hides the even scarier fact that domestic fascist madmen are trying to kill us - which we then can't believe.
Continuing on this path is a bad idea when there are qualified and dedicated critics out there, people who spend years researching the roots of corruption who can quickly identify the narrative history of current lies and reasons for them, and people who at a glance you can tell are doing this primarily to expose the truth - as opposed to chasing mass media coverage and the subsequent expected cash-windfall. Hey, not that it wouldn't be nice, but what's even better is keeping your integrity in the face of rising fascism, and helping to Save The World.
With a little cross-referencing and an appreciation for consistency, you can easily learn who to trust and who not to.
If you're not stupid, you won't have a problem.
If you keep watching news that lies to you, you'll become stupid.
If you keep watching some unidentified "Sr. Terror Analyst" on CNN tell you we either have to kill people or live in fear of dying - or both, with no explanation of who that "Sr. Terror Analyst" works for or what their experience has been (see for yourself - I just did again), then you are essentially trusting a conspiracy to keep you from caring to ask those questions or feel they are important.
Think people.
This is not about "pets", or "fashion", or "yoga", or "pilates", or "football", or "sports cars", or "condo's", or "relationships", or "depression", or "health", or "celebrities", or "children", or "mortgages" or anything else where you'd definitely want an "expert" who's background is explained that you can trust to give you advice.
This. Is. Terrorism.
This. Is. Killing. Or. Dying.
This. Is. Serious. Business.
This. Is. It.
Wakey-wakey... :-)
Peace, (NOW!!!) BK

And here's something even more insane that was floated out on the Associated Press newswires, as the Air Force wants to test new weapons on civilian crowds in the United States in order to say they're acceptable for use overseas.
Sounds perfectly reasonable, right?
I haven't seen it make the news controlled by 5 corporations yet.
Perhaps it will. Perhaps it won't.
I noticed that gas prices are about the same at the 5 corporations that own the gas companies too, I don't say "oil" as it's part of the con, and we can't forget that while they're * making * 400% more in profits, we're * paying * them 50% more for "gas".
Sometimes I wonder if these corporations have similar operating principles, or if they believe that, as David Rockefeller once said:
"Competition is a sin."
Associated Press
Air Force chief: Test weapons on testy U.S. mobs
AP | September 13 2006
Nonlethal weapons such as high-power microwave devices should be used on American citizens in crowd-control situations before being used on the battlefield, the Air Force secretary said Tuesday.
The object is basically public relations. Domestic use would make it easier to avoid questions from others about possible safety considerations, said Secretary Michael Wynne.
"If we're not willing to use it here against our fellow citizens, then we should not be willing to use it in a wartime situation," said Wynne. "(Because) if I hit somebody with a nonlethal weapon and they claim that it injured them in a way that was not intended, I think that I would be vilified in the world press."
The Air Force has paid for research into nonlethal weapons, but he said the service is unlikely to spend more money on development until injury problems are reviewed by medical experts and resolved. [Continued at...]

Anderson Cooper's CIA Secret
Anderson Cooper has long traded on his biography, carving a niche for himself as the most human of news anchors. But there's one aspect of his past that the silver-haired CNN star has never made public: the months he spent training for a career with the Central Intelligence Agency.
Following his sophomore and junior years at Yale "a well-known recruiting ground for the CIA" Cooper spent his summers interning at the agency's monolithic headquarters in Langley, Virginia, in a program for students interested in intelligence work. His involvement with the agency ended there, and he chose not to pursue a job with the agency after graduation, according to a CNN spokeswoman, who confirmed details of Cooper's CIA involvement to Radar.
good to meet you, and yes, i believe we can save the world.
in fact, i think our belief in being unable to save the world is nurtured by forces that don't want us to try, and that want to keep us dumb, powerless and hopeless.
it's like how the mainstream media convinces us we're "smart" if we proudly say we don't believe in "conspiracy theories", something that probably keeps the rich and evil people actually "conspiring" to screw us laughing their asses off. as long as we use the language of our slave-masters to discredit each other we're in a bit of trouble: we don't trust those who've accumulated more knowledge than us, we don't trust the mainstream media, and we trust everything else even less.
even normal sane people who watch CNN while boasting how they know they're lying are saying:
"What? Of course we've got to get Iran! They want to nuke us!"
they're effectively "selling" us another war, and i don't buy it.
frankly i use the "qui bono?" or "who profits?" principle on every piece of information i digest, and assign credibility accordingly: is this information benefiting "power" or "people"? is the person saying it for fame and fortune - or - in spite it's allure?
we can argue by "appealing to authority", but the higher up we go on the "authority" food chain the worse it stinks, including POTUS George W. Bush being full of crap.
so, the corporate media tells us the internet is full of crap, when in fact it's the most democratic source of information ever, with millions of people competing to build their credibility for years and thousands of witnesses coming forward. we don't see any "whistleblowers" on the "news" anymore, a real subtle and unnoticed tragedy in-line with them not "reading us our rights" on shows like CSI and 24 when they arrest us compared to cop shows of the 70's, 80's and 90's (check for yourself), so thank G-d for the internet for as long as we have it.
sorry for the rambling, as homeboy said i've got a lot to say and you can find it on my sites, but i'll leave you with a 10 minute video clip of Mr. Palast and the report he got in trouble for making. i've gotta say it's sad, but with the knowledge of Mr. Palast and millions of others working hard on these issues, i remain armed with optimism... :-)
Greg Palast Video: Killing the culture in New Orleans
I think all this artificial equivocation is silly, and the "left" and "right" labels don't stand up to objective morality that we all supposedly subscribe to.
To wit: the people holding people without charge or trial and torturing them and their supporters don't have a defensible position irrespective of what the mainstream media certifies, and the rest of us have to stop acknowledging that "both sides have a point" and taking what the government says at face-value.
Both sides aren't equally evil either, as the corporate-controlled right-wing media would have a field day with any evidence they found of "liberal" corruption.
To wit: the Republican party committed tonnes of voter fraud and disenfranchisement, and yet there was no mention of Democrats doing the same even on Fox News, so saying "Oh, both sides do it!" is false.
I'm not for a particular position, I'm for the idea that in our Republic we need to decentralize power and preserve individual rights, and the Left just happens to be closer to more groups that represent "people" as opposed to "power", so they have better access to more like-minded people in government when they win, which isn't a bad start.
Finally, I truly believe we're under attack by the forces behind this war-mongering corporate-fascism.
The Bilderberg Group is a key player if you want some "mainstream" news back-up (Google it or check my SoundClick site), and since they're playing to "win" and enslave or kill us all (see: The Rest of the World's Poor, plus RFID chips, security cameras, The Patriot Act, the coming Wars on Whomever, plus...) I feel we should too.
I hope that clears it up, and honestly I can't wait to "sell out" myself - which I have no problems doing. I'd love to make timeless music about traditional subjects or fun stuff with some integrity, but since not enough people are willing to take on this particular fight and I'm pretty good at it, that's what I'm up to... :-)
Please help save American journalist Greg Palast from U.S. federal prosecution on "terrorism" charges by passing this on to everyone you know, especially members of the media.
He's charged with taking "critical infrastructure" pictures of a concentration camp in New Orleans where 73,000 people are still being held a year after Hurricane Katrina.
Another sign of the new corporate-fascism?
It was the chemical-spewing Exxon plant beside the camp that brought the charges against Greg and his producer Matt Pascarella.
Greg's brilliant work for the BBC and The Guardian would be sorely missed, and every journalist in the World would suffer if a high-profile international treasure like Mr. Palast is taken down.
Thank you for your time.
Peace, BK

* Palast Charged with Journalism in the First Degree *
Greg Palast | September 12 2006
It's true. It's weird. It's nuts. The Department of Homeland Security, after a five-year hunt for Osama, has finally brought charges against Greg Palast. I kid you not. Send your cakes with files to the Air America wing at Guantanamo.
Though not just yet. Fatherland Security has informed me that television producer Matt Pascarella and I have been charged with unauthorized filming of a "critical national security structure" in Louisiana.
On August 22, for LinkTV and Democracy Now! we videotaped the thousands of Katrina evacuees still held behind a barbed wire in a trailer park encampment a hundred miles from New Orleans. It's been a year since the hurricane and 73,000 POW's (Prisoners of W) are still in this aluminum ghetto in the middle of nowhere. One resident, Pamela Lewis said, "It is a prison set-up" -- except there are no home furloughs for these inmates because they no longer have homes.
To give a sense of the full flavor and smell of the place, we wanted to show that this human parking lot, with kids and elderly, is nearly adjacent to the Exxon Oil refinery, the nation's second largest, a chemical-belching behemoth.
So we filmed it. Without Big Brother's authorization. Uh, oh. Apparently, the broadcast of these stinking smokestacks tipped off Osama that, if his assassins pose as poor Black folk, they can get a cramped Airstream right next to a "critical infrastructure" asset.
So now Matt and I have a "criminal complaint" lodged against us with the feds.
The positive side for me as a journalist is that I get to see our terror-busters in action. I should note that it took the Maxwell Smarts at Homeland Security a full two weeks to hunt us down.
Frankly, we were a bit scared that, given the charges, we wouldn't be allowed on a plane into New York last night. But what scared us more is that we were allowed on the plane.
Once I was traced, I had a bit of an other-worldly conversation with my would-be captors. Detective Frank Pananepinto of Homeland Security told us, "This is a 'Critical Infrastructure' and they get nervous about unauthorized filming of their property.
Well, me too, Detective.
In fact, I'm very nervous that this potential chemical blast-site can be mapped in extreme detail at this Google Map location
What also makes me nervous is that the Bush Terror Terriers have kindly indicated on the Internet that this unprotected critical infrastructure can be targeted -- I mean located -- at 30' 29' 11" N Latitude and 9' 11' 39" W Longitude.
After I assured Detective Pananepinto, "I can swear to you that I'm not part of Al Qaeda," he confirmed that, "Louisiana is still part of the United States," subject to the first amendment and he was therefore required to divulge my accuser.
Not surprisingly, it was Exxon Corporation, one of a handful of companies not in love with my investigations. [See " A Well-Designed Disaster: the Untold Story of the Exxon Valdez. "]
So I rang America's top petroleum pusher-men and asked their media relations honcho in Houston, Marc Boudreaux, a simple question. "Do you want us to go to jail or not? Is it Exxon's position that reporters should go to jail?" Because, all my dumb-ass jokes aside, that is what's at stake. And Exxon knew we were journalists because we showed our press credential to the Exxon guards at the refinery entrance.
The Exxon man was coy: "Well, we'll see what we can find out". Obviously it's important to national security that we have supplies from that refinery in the event of an emergency."
Really? According to the documents our team uncovered from the offices of Exxon's lawyer, Mr. James Baker, the oil industry is more than happy to see a limit on worldwide crude production. Indeed, the current squeeze has jacked the price of oil from $24 a barrel to $64 and refined products have jumped yet higher -- resulting in a record-busting profit for Exxon of nearly $1 billion per week.
So this silly "criminal complaint" has nothing to do with stopping Al Qaeda or keeping the oil flowing. It has everything to do with obstructing news reports in a way that no one would have dared attempt before the September 11 attack.
Dectective Pananepinto, in justifying our impending bust, said, "If you remember, a lot of people were killed on 9/11."
Yes, Detective, I remember that very well: my office was in the World Trade Center. Lucky for me, I was out of town that day. It was not a lucky day for 3,000 others.
Yes, I remember "a lot" of people were killed. So I have this suggestion, Detective -- and you can pass it on to Mr. Bush: Go and find the people who killed them.
It's been five years and the Bush regime has not done that. Instead, the War on Terror is reduced to taking off our shoes in airports, hoping we can bomb Muslims into loving America and chasing journalists around the bayou. Meanwhile, King Abdullah, the Gambino of oil, whose princelings funded the murderers, gets a free ride in the President's golf cart at the Crawford ranch.
I guess I shouldn't complain. After all, Matt and I look pretty good in orange.
*******
A personal request to readers. Many have written to ask what can be done to protect Matt and me from becoming unwilling guests of the State.
First, this ain't no foolin' around: Matt and I are facing these nutty charges. So spread the info. We believe that getting the word out is the best defense.
Second, call Homeland Security and turn us in. They seem to have trouble finding us. If you get a reward, you may choose to donate it to the Palast Investigative Fund, a 501(c)(3) educational foundation which supports our work and pays our legal fees.
Third, ask your local library to order our book, Armed Madhouse: Who's Afraid of Osama Wolf? Homeland Security now reserves the right to read over your shoulder at the library; therefore, the more our agents are forced to read this subversive material, the more likely we can convince them to come in out of the cold. All kidding aside, we do ask you to request your library order the book: not everyone can afford to purchase this hardbound edition.
Our thanks to Amy Goodman at Democracy Now! and the folks at LinkTV for broadcasting our report from New Orleans and the Exxon refinery. And to Gil Noble, host of the ABC Television's Like It Is, our Courage in Journalism award for broadcasting our report on his network's New York affiliate. Catch Gil on WABC every Sunday at noon.

* Project Censored Announces the Release of the Top 25 Most Censored Stories for 2005-06 *
For 30 years Project Censored at Sonoma State University has been reporting the real news that corporate media refuses to cover. The 250 student researchers and faculty find cutting-edge news stories that go under-reported in the mainstream corporate media. Real news is not there for the selling of material goods or entertainment. Real news can only be measured through its success in building democracy, stimulating grassroots activism, and motivating resistance to top-down institutions. Democratic activism underlies the purpose, reason, and message of free speech. Here again is Project Censored's release of the news that didn't make the news-a compilation of the best examples of journalism that the corporate media marginalized in 2005-06.
Full reviews of the stories are published in Censored 2007: 30th Anniversary Edition from Seven Stories Press, available at: http://www.projectcensored.org/

The 9/11 Commission: A Play on Nothing in Three Acts
By Sibel Edmonds & Bill Weaver
A wag once famously said that Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot was a play where nothing happened . . . twice. The two former co-chairmen of the 9-11 commission report, Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton, have released a new book, "Without Precedent: The Inside Story of the 9-11 Commission." This book goes Beckett one better, it is the third act of veneer over substance, self-aggrandizement over serious analysis, and cliche over perspicacity. It is another calculated attempt by the former commissioners to place themselves in the media spotlight, and to overcome the humiliation of their widely criticized and mostly debunked report. It is a vapid and substanceless attempt to claim moral high ground and present the co-chairmen as heroes of honesty. It would be a farce, except that it has no story line, save the aggrandizement of the authors. At least they are consistent in doing nothing and proclaiming that to be a sign of their devotion to the country and the government. Beckett once said that "habit is the ballast that chains the dog to its vomit", and by this measure the chain restraining Kean and Hamilton is a short one indeed.
As you recall, Act One, "The Dirty Ten Digging on 9/11", consisted of extraordinary performances by every single member of the commission to convince us, the audience -- the gullible public -- of commission independence, and its intent to provide our nation with the truth, nothing but the whole truth; their pledge to hold the 'culprits' accountable, no matter how high or low on the ladder of the bureaucracy; their commitment to provide "meaningful fixes and remedies" regardless of any resistance they may have to face.
During Act Two, the commissioners, led by their stars, Kean and Hamilton, put on the performance of their lives. They delivered a document that promised to be more than the mere sum of mortal intelligence; they promised a report that drew on the nation's soul and would lay bare the necessity and nature of change.
Initially, this play, scripted by the very powers the commission was to investigate, was to have only two acts. However, due to gradually increasing critiques by some in the media, even some of those who originally attended the serenade chorus, and fairly loud boos from some of the previously cheering audience, the producers have now decided to add additional act(s). Act Three, the Finger-Pointing and Blame Game, stars Kean and Hamilton as two comrades holding hands during the act and directing blame at the other eight commission members, who are now cast as traitors and deceivers. The audience is led to assume that the other eight members were responsible for the now untenable report; decided to pursue practical failure but achieve popular success; traded the public welfare for personal gain.
The Commission was created and put in place due to the relentless pressure and outcry by the 9/11 family members and their public supporters who had three objectives in mind: 1) Getting all the facts; 2) Establishing Accountability for those who failed us due to their intentional or unintentional acts; 3) Provide recommendation for real fixes and meaningful remedies.
The Commission fulfilled none of those three objectives. In their responsibility to report all the facts: They either refused to interview all relevant experts and witnesses, or, they censored the reports provided to them by those with direct and first-hand information. Both these acts were selective and intentional. Contrary to their pledge to establish accountability: They refused to hold anyone accountable and lamely justified it by saying, "We don't want to point a finger at anyone". All those responsible individuals remained in their positions or were even promoted. And as far as meaningful remedies and reforms are concerned, the commission threw in senseless, and in some cases, detrimental cosmetic and bureaucratic "solutions" that ended up making our government even more cumbersome and unable to respond to threats to national security. In the name of solutions and reforms, they forced down our throats exactly what led to the failure to protect our nation on 9/11: A highly bureaucratic, complicated, inefficient mammoth of a malfunctioning machine.
On the Fifth anniversary of the September Eleven Terror Attacks, we, the National Security Whistleblowers, want to go on record one more time to reiterate the significant issues and cases that were duly reported to the 9/11 commission by those of us from the Intelligence, Aviation, and Law Enforcement communities, but ended up being censored and omitted. The failure to address such serious and relevant issues, witnesses, and information renders the report flawed and the commissioners parties to a fraud on the nation.
The following Veteran National Security experts were turned away, ignored, or censored by the 9/11 Commission, even though they had direct and relevant information related to the Commission's investigation (for the PDF version Click Here):
John M. Cole, Former Veteran Intelligence Operations Specialist; FBI - Mr. Cole worked for 18 years in the FBI's Counterintelligence Division as an Intelligence Operations specialist, and was in charge of FBI's foreign intelligence investigations covering India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Mr. Cole had knowledge of certain activities that directly related to the terror attacks on September 11, 2001. He notified the 9/11 Commission during its investigation, but never received a response. His name and contact information was provided to the Commission as a key witness by other witnesses, but he was never contacted or interviewed.
John Vincent, Retired Special Agent, Counterterrorism; FBI - Mr. Vincent worked for the FBI for 27 1/2 years before retiring in 2002. He worked his last 8 years in counterterrorism in the FBI's Chicago Field Office. Mr. Vincent, along with Robert Wright, exposed inefficiencies within the FBI in working counterterrorism cases, and certain warnings they had tried to pursue prior to the 9/11 attack that were directly related to Al-Qaeda's financial network and money laundering activities. Although he was granted an interview, the commissioner's investigators refused to let him provide them with information related to his case and the 9/11 terrorists network; they insisted on limiting the interview to only administrative and irrelevant questions and issues.
Robert Wright, Veteran Special Agent, Counterterrorism; FBI - Mr. Wright is a veteran special agent in the FBI Chicago Field Office Counterterrorism Unit. He had been investigating a suspected terrorist cell for three years, when he was informed in January 2001 that the case was being closed. Agent Wright, along with Mr. Vincent, exposed inefficiencies within the FBI in working counterterrorism cases and certain warnings they'd tried to pursue prior to the 9/11 attack that were directly related to Al-Qaeda's financial network and money laundering activities. Three months before September 11, Wright wrote a stinging internal memo charging that the FBI was not interested in thwarting a terrorist attack, but rather "was merely gathering intelligence so they would know who to arrest when a terrorist attack occurred." The FBI refused to allow Wright to testify before the 9/11 Commission, however, the Commission did not insist or attempt to subpoena Wright; despite the fact that it had subpoena power.
Sibel Edmonds, Former Language Specialist; FBI - Ms. Edmonds worked for the FBI's Washington Field Office as a language specialist with Top Secret Clearance performing translations for counterterrorism and counterintelligence operations dealing with Turkey, Iran, and Turkic speaking Central Asian countries. She contacted the 9/11 Commission in May 2003 and requested a meeting to provide them with information directly related to the terrorist attack. The Commission investigators refused to meet with Edmonds and informed her that due to their limited resources and time they were not going to interview all witnesses. She was able to provide the commission with information and documents only after certain 9/11 family members intervened directly. Ms. Edmonds' testimony was completely censored by the Commission.
Behrooz Sarshar, Former Language Specialist; FBI - Mr. Sarshar worked for the FBI's Washington Field Office as a language specialist with Top Secret Clearance performing Farsi translations for counterterrorism and counterintelligence operations dealing with Iran and Afghanistan. He had first-hand information of prior specific warning obtained from a reliable informant in April 2001 on the terrorist attacks of September 11. Mr. Sarshar contacted the Commission directly but was refused. He was given an interview with the Commission investigators only after 9/11 family members intervened directly. Mr. Sarshar's documented testimony was completely omitted from the commission's final report, despite his case being publicly confirmed by Director Muellera's Office.
Mike German, Special Agent, Counterterrorism; FBI - Mr. German served sixteen years as an FBI Special Agent and is one of the rare agents credited with actually having prevented acts of terrorism before it became the FBI's number one priority. He contacted the Commission in the spring of 2004, but did not receive a response. In 2002 he reported gross mismanagement in a post 9/11-counterterrorism investigation, which included serious violations of FBI policy and federal law. Mr. German contacted the 9/11 Commission during its investigation and requested that he be given an interview session in order to provide them with certain domestic counterterrorism investigations that he'd pursued. According to Mr. German there were links between certain domestic and international counterterrorism related to the September 11 attacks. The 9/11 Commissioners refused to acknowledge his request and never interviewed him.
Gilbert Graham, Retired Special Agent, Counterintelligence; FBI - Mr. Graham worked for the FBI's Washington Field Office Counterintelligence Division until 2002. In February 2004 his name and contact information were provided to the Commission as a key witness with information pertinent to the Commission's investigation. The 9/11 Commission refused to follow up and never contacted Mr. Graham.
Coleen Rowley, Retired Division Counsel; FBI - In May 2002, Coleen Rowley, as the Division Counsel at the FBI Minneapolis Office, blew the whistle on the FBI's failure to pursue Zacarias Moussaoui'scase prior to 9/11, despite all attempts made by the Minneapolis division counterterrorism agents. She reported that FBI HQ personnel in Washington, D.C., had mishandled and neglected to take action on information provided by her division. Despite her high-profile case the commission chose not to interview Ms. Rowley. According to Ms. Rowley, no one from the FBI Minneapolis Office (several Agents had direct information) was ever asked to provide testimony, information, to the 9/11 Commission.
Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Shaffer, DIA - Colonel Shaffer provided the Commission with detailed information on intelligence and pre warning information obtained by his unit's data mining project, Able Danger. The 9/11 commission staff received not one but two briefings on Able Danger from Mr. Shaffer and his former team members, yet did not pursue the case, did not follow up on this documented report and refused to subpoena the relevant files. Mr. Shaffera's testimony, together with other witnesses who corroborated his testimony and information, were censored by the 9/11 Commissioners and never made it to its final report.
Dick Stoltz, Retired Special Agent; ATF- Mr. Stoltz, a veteran undercover agent with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, had played an important role in Operation Diamondback between 1998 and 2001. The sting operation involved a group of Middle Eastern men living in New Jersey who were caught on tape in an ATF weapons sting conspiring to buy millions of dollars of weapons including components for nuclear bombs. The case came to a screeching halt with the arrest of only a handful of suspects in June of 2001 even though there was ample evidence that some of the people who were attempting to buy these weapons had connections with the Taliban, Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden himself. The 9/11 Commission refused to contact Agent Stoltz despite all attempts made by several witnesses from the intelligence & Law Enforcement Communities, and the 9/11 Family group, Jersey Moms.
Bogdan Dzakovic, Former Red Team Leader; FAA - Mr. Dzakovic had worked for the Security Division of the Federal Aviation Administration since 1987 as a Special Agent, as a Team Leader in the Federal Air Marshals, and from 1995 until September 11, 2001 was a Team Leader of the Red Team (terrorist team). Mr. Dzakovic had tried for several years prior to the 9-11 attacks to improve aviation security in the face of the ever-increasing terrorist threat. He provided the 9/11 Commission with his testimony and documented reports. His testimony and report to the Commission was completely omitted from the final report.
Linda Lewis, Retired Emergency Programs Specialist; USDA - Ms. Lewis worked for 13 years evaluating and coordinating federal, state and local preparedness for nuclear, radiological and chemical weapons emergencies. Prior to September 11, 2001, she had reported numerous inadequacies and dysfunctions in emergency preparedness, including a culture of intimidation that discouraged federal evaluators from reporting inadequacies in state and local plans and preparedness. USDA officials had thwarted her efforts to bring in terrorism experts to help the agency prepare for attacks on federal buildings, including bio-weapons attacks such as the anthrax attacks of 2001. In vain, she had urged FEMA officials to develop a national emergency communications plan and require interoperability of federally funded emergency communications equipment. In the absence of these preparations, New York City firefighters and police officers were unable to communicate critical information on September 11 at the World Trade Center. Ms. Lewis contacted the Commission and offered to provide information regarding dysfunctional government preparedness, but the Commission never responded.
Mark Burton, Senior Analyst; NSA Mr. Burton served as an all-source threat analyst in NSA's Information Assurance Directorate (IAD) for most of his 16-year career. He was the editor of IAD's premier threat document; the 300+ page ISSO Global Threat Summary, and was an adjunct faculty member at NSA's National Cryptologic School. He provided dozens of pages of relevant information to the 9/11 Commission, but was completely ignored and never asked to testify.
The above list does not include many others from the intelligence and law enforcement communities who had similarly contacted or reported to the commission but had been either turned away or censored, and of course many others who are still working within these agencies and are fearful of making their identities known, due to the relentless pursuit of and retaliation against whistleblowers by government agencies.
