Ron Paul's tea party for dollars

On Nov. 5th, supporters of Ron Paul raked in more than $4.2 million in donations in 24 hours, mostly collected over the Internet.
Today, they're at it again. Hoping to detonate what they call a "money bomb," the supporters started fundraising at midnight Saturday and have already raised $2 million as of about 10:30 a.m. today, more than at this point on Nov. 5th, according to figures they posted online. They hope to collect a total of $10 million by midnight Sunday.

The idea of a candidate inspiring millions of people to act inspired is worth celebrating even if you have a different opinion on who should win. Mercury in mascara? Minn. law bans it

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The quest for thicker lashes and defined eyes should get safer in Minnesota on Jan. 1, when a state law banning mercury from mascara, eye liners and skin-lightening creams takes effect.
Minnesota apparently is the first state in the nation to ban intentionally added mercury in cosmetics, giving it a tougher standard than the federal government.
Retailers who knowingly sell mercury-containing cosmetics in Minnesota could face fines of as much as $700. Penalties could reach $10,000 for manufacturers who fail to disclose mercury on product labels, according to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
"Mercury does cause neurological damage to people even in tiny quantities," said Sen. John Marty, the Democrat from Roseville who sponsored the ban. "Every source of mercury adds to it. We wanted to make sure it wasn't here."

Tax babies 'to save planet'

COUPLES who have more than two children should be charged a lifelong tax to offset their extra offspring's carbon dioxide emissions, a medical expert says.
The report in an Australian medical journal called for parents to be charged $5000 a head for every child after their second, and an annual tax of up to $800.
And couples who were sterilised would be eligible for carbon credits under the controversial proposal.
Perth specialist Professor Barry Walters was heavily critical of the $4000 baby bonus, saying that paying new parents extra for every baby fuelled more children, more emissions and "greenhouse-unfriendly behaviour".
Instead, it should be replaced with a "baby levy" in the form of a carbon tax in line with the "polluter pays" principle, he wrote in the latest Medical Journal of Australia.
"Every family choosing to have more than a defined number of children should be charged a carbon tax that would fund the planting of enough trees to offset the carbon cost generated by a new human being," said Prof Walters, an obstetrician at King Edward Memorial Hospital.
Sustainable Population Australia suggested a maximum of two, he said.
By the same reasoning, contraceptives like diaphragms and condoms, as well as sterilisation procedures, should attract carbon credits, the specialist said.
"As doctors, I believe we need to think this way," he wrote in a letter to the journal.
"As Australians I believe we need to be less arrogant.
"As citizens of the world, I believe we deserve no more population concessions than those in India or China."
Garry Eggers, director of the NSW Centre for Health Promotion and Research, agreed with the call, saying former treasurer Peter Costello's request for three children per family - "one for mum, one for dad and one for the country" - was too single-minded.
"Population remains crucial to all environmental considerations," wrote Professor Eggers, a leading advocate of the personal carbon trading debate.
"The debate (around population control) needs to be reopened as part of a second ecological revolution."
Family groups rejected the calls, saying larger families used less energy than smaller ones and should not be penalised.

Daniel Estulin, best selling author and Bilderberg investigator, told Alex Jones today that a “small circle of intimates” ensconced within a global amalgamation of monopolistic and fascist cartels, are “war gaming” the assassination of presidential candidate Ron Paul.
Estulin, citing patriotic sources inside American intelligence, said the global elite are petrified of not only the growing possibility of a Ron Paul victory next November and his promise to return America to its republican, constitutional roots, but also the tidal wave of political and financial support behind Paul’s campaign.

The poorest fifth of households had total income of $383.4 billion in 2005, while just the increase in income for the top 1 percent came to $524.8 billion, a figure 37 percent higher.

Today, they're at it again. Hoping to detonate what they call a "money bomb," the supporters started fundraising at midnight Saturday and have already raised $2 million as of about 10:30 a.m. today, more than at this point on Nov. 5th, according to figures they posted online. They hope to collect a total of $10 million by midnight Sunday.

The idea of a candidate inspiring millions of people to act inspired is worth celebrating even if you have a different opinion on who should win. Today's poisonous and partisan political climate has lead to apathy, so anyone who cures it is someone worth looking at. Mercury in mascara? Minn. law bans it

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The quest for thicker lashes and defined eyes should get safer in Minnesota on Jan. 1, when a state law banning mercury from mascara, eye liners and skin-lightening creams takes effect.
Minnesota apparently is the first state in the nation to ban intentionally added mercury in cosmetics, giving it a tougher standard than the federal government.
Retailers who knowingly sell mercury-containing cosmetics in Minnesota could face fines of as much as $700. Penalties could reach $10,000 for manufacturers who fail to disclose mercury on product labels, according to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
"Mercury does cause neurological damage to people even in tiny quantities," said Sen. John Marty, the Democrat from Roseville who sponsored the ban. "Every source of mercury adds to it. We wanted to make sure it wasn't here."

Tax babies 'to save planet'

COUPLES who have more than two children should be charged a lifelong tax to offset their extra offspring's carbon dioxide emissions, a medical expert says.
The report in an Australian medical journal called for parents to be charged $5000 a head for every child after their second, and an annual tax of up to $800.
And couples who were sterilised would be eligible for carbon credits under the controversial proposal.
Perth specialist Professor Barry Walters was heavily critical of the $4000 baby bonus, saying that paying new parents extra for every baby fuelled more children, more emissions and "greenhouse-unfriendly behaviour".
Instead, it should be replaced with a "baby levy" in the form of a carbon tax in line with the "polluter pays" principle, he wrote in the latest Medical Journal of Australia.
"Every family choosing to have more than a defined number of children should be charged a carbon tax that would fund the planting of enough trees to offset the carbon cost generated by a new human being," said Prof Walters, an obstetrician at King Edward Memorial Hospital.
Sustainable Population Australia suggested a maximum of two, he said.
By the same reasoning, contraceptives like diaphragms and condoms, as well as sterilisation procedures, should attract carbon credits, the specialist said.
"As doctors, I believe we need to think this way," he wrote in a letter to the journal.
"As Australians I believe we need to be less arrogant.
"As citizens of the world, I believe we deserve no more population concessions than those in India or China."
Garry Eggers, director of the NSW Centre for Health Promotion and Research, agreed with the call, saying former treasurer Peter Costello's request for three children per family - "one for mum, one for dad and one for the country" - was too single-minded.
"Population remains crucial to all environmental considerations," wrote Professor Eggers, a leading advocate of the personal carbon trading debate.
"The debate (around population control) needs to be reopened as part of a second ecological revolution."
Family groups rejected the calls, saying larger families used less energy than smaller ones and should not be penalised.

Daniel Estulin, best selling author and Bilderberg investigator, told Alex Jones today that a “small circle of intimates” ensconced within a global amalgamation of monopolistic and fascist cartels, are “war gaming” the assassination of presidential candidate Ron Paul.
Estulin, citing patriotic sources inside American intelligence, said the global elite are petrified of not only the growing possibility of a Ron Paul victory next November and his promise to return America to its republican, constitutional roots, but also the tidal wave of political and financial support behind Paul’s campaign.
Initially, Estulin explained, the elite attempted to ignore the Ron Paul Revolution, but as the movement increased its size and profile, it was decided other, more drastic measures, specifically assassination, may need to be undertaken in order to circumvent “unknown factors” of the Ron Paul Revolution.

The increase in incomes of the top 1 percent of Americans from 2003 to 2005 exceeded the total income of the poorest 20 percent of Americans, data in a new report by the Congressional Budget Office shows.
The poorest fifth of households had total income of $383.4 billion in 2005, while just the increase in income for the top 1 percent came to $524.8 billion, a figure 37 percent higher.

Assuming 10 total candidates, 39 percent of the references to the Constitution would be divided among the nine other candidates. If the total number of references were to be split evenly across the rest of the candidates, each candidate would roughly only contribute to 4.3 percent of the Constitutional mentions.
So this means that Ron Paul is 14 times more likely to utter the words of the Constitution than the average candidate.
