Moussaoui Asks to Withdraw Guilty Plea

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Convicted Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui says he lied on the witness stand about being involved in the plot and wants to withdraw his guilty plea because he now believes he can get a fair trial.

In a motion filed Friday but released Monday, Moussaoui said he testified March 27 he was supposed to hijack a fifth plane on Sept. 11, 2001, and fly it into the White House "even though I knew that was a complete fabrication."

A federal court jury spared the 37-year-old Frenchman the death penalty last Wednesday. On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema gave him six life sentences, to run as two consecutive life terms, in the federal supermax prison at Florence, Colo.

At sentencing, she told Moussaoui: "You do not have a right to appeal your convictions, as was explained to you when you plead guilty" in April 2005. "You waived that right."

She said he could appeal his sentence but added, "I believe it would be an act of futility."

Moussaoui's court-appointed lawyers told the court they filed the motion even though a federal rule "prohibits a defendant from withdrawing a guilty plea after imposition of sentence." They did so anyway because of their "problematic relationship with Moussaoui" and the fact that new lawyers have yet to be appointed to replace them.

Moussaoui Wears Stun Belt During Trial?

If you're looking for a reason why Zacarias Moussaoui suddenly testified today to a version of the 9/11 plotline that sounds more like the Official story than even the official Whitewash Commission report, this video may have the answer.

In it, NBC news reporter Pete Williams lets slip that Moussaoui is wearing a "Stun belt" underneath his clothing controlled by US Marshals. MSNBC host Dan Abrams gets some more details on the stun belt.

A taste of the exchange:

WILLIAMS: The old outbursts were gone... He was very docile today... We believe that he's wearing one of those stun belts, and it may be that he was very worried about doing anything that would cause those Marshals to press the button....

ABRAMS: A stun belt? They literally have sOmething around his waist? That they can push a button and?

doods, good hangage meng, and this is why i didn't bring it up at the bachelor party even though we could've all watched "Loose Change - 2nd Edition" online at Google Video and been shocked out of our gourds.

no worries, i'm just as stubborn and completely empathize with your position, hell - i used to be pro-war against both afghanistan and iraq, and would regularily out-argue a peacenik-programmer friend at my old job. i'm atoning for that sin now, and if i can use my skills to defend the validity of marginalized groups - including conspiracy theorists who've been ritually proven right in the light of history, then i feel i should.

but, i usually just take a knee when i argue with you guys just to avoid turning your worlds into jello, and to see what works in various ways to convince you - or what sets you off as a "crazy" argument. like i said, (X) paused when i noted they waited a year to investigate 9/11, and i didn't even have to get into how they stalled it, under-funded it, stacked it with cronies, mis-directed it, suppressed evidence, and generally ignored any witnesses to anything but the official story regardless of how credible they were.

the arguments about an unproveable fantasy world of terror causing impending doom to Western Civilization as an ever-present "imminent threat" are a mile-wide and an inch deep, and there's so many first principles we never question that it's a hell of a slog - like, "why?"

i can't believe the reality we debated is garbage, just like the kids today arguing about "pre-emptive wars of aggression" like it's legitimate public policy and not what the Nuremberg Tribunal called "the supreme crime", to say nothing of "torture" and "enemy combatants". some of the conservative kids are just as creative as we were, and will do the same things we do: act like we have some arrogant inside information on the issue... "oh you don't understand... the government has to do this... they're protecting us... they blew up the buildings because they were already on fire... the surveillance footage has to be classified..." etc.

so, in effect we all make up logical conspiracy theories to answer govt questions they don't, feeling smarter about ourselves in the process. why did NORAD stand down and allow 4 planes in 2 hours to fly unimpeded through heavily protected airspace? we'll go ahead and make up a creative answer to make sense of the world while ignoring the people who actually look for them, and that's supposed to prove we're smart enough to understand the official story more than others - in effect constantly re-convincing ourselves.

it's a bit of a mess.

there's a million things to say on this subject - and i've written a bunch, but go ahead, check out the films i mentioned and the magazine [Global Outlook] i gave you, and tell me who has the proven history of lying to you: the mainstream media or me and my sources?

sometimes it doesn't matter what you say, what matters is that you're not allowed to say it, and others are not allowed to repeat it. the veracity of the above claims is not beyond reproach, but based on the 5-second clips of Osama and Zarqawi they silently show us suggesting they wanna kill us all (can they really say that much in a silent 5 seconds?) i like the painstaking steps taken to bolster counter-arguments a lot better.

the media makes it look easy because it is - they're no longer trying.

aw shucks, i guess in a world of slackasses i still admire hard work, and whether i'm up to it or not, i wanna endorse those who are...
