WHY you mad at Madonna? "With all due respect your Holy Rabbiness: You're out of your friggin' mind!"
Sorry I've been audi for a minit, I've been busy and babbling with a tonne of peeps, including a few who mentioned this insanity coming out of Rabbiville.
They all repeated the same dumbass thing to me:
"Did you hear some rabbi's are mad at Madonna for trying to profit off the name of some 16th century Jewish prophet?"
(sigh)
I can't help it.
I lost my mind when I first heard it and haven't found it since.
How the hell does "Madonna" want to PROFIT off a 16th century Jewish prophet?
This woman is worth $300 million dollars. Give or take. I have no idea.
And, if she wants to profit, all she has to do is...
"Hey boys and girls, get on, the dance floor!"
(doo-doo, doo-doo-doo; doo-doo, doo-doo-doo!)
"Shake your ass, like you want, some more!"
(doo-doo, doo-doo-doo; doo-doo, doo-doo-doo!)
Etc.
The idea that she MADE a song like this for "profit" is categorically insane.
There is at best a tiny available market for fans of "Yitzhak Luria, a 16th century Jewish mystic and Kabbalah scholar", and I'm sure the chauvinists and charlatans chanting away in their dimly-lit Lawboratories have absolutely no idea how "profit" in the music business works. Holed up poring over ancients texts and driving themselves crazy by driving themselves away from the people, their argument is proof-positive of their authoritative ignorance - AND of our blind fealty to an inoffensive acceptance of stupidity.
I get what they say jewish law says, and I even get why they're mad, but really, the reason Madonna made the song is to promote the culture and religion she loves in order to celebrate it, so the Rabble can at least make better and honest arguments.
Are all rabbi's dumbasses?
No.
Do rabbi's say dumbass things sometimes?
Yes.
So we gotta keep our minds open to the possibility.
I present, as your humble heretic, Exhibit "A"...
Some Rabbis Criticize New Madonna Song
By RACHEL HOAG, Associated Press Writer Mon Oct 10,10:27 AM ET
JERUSALEM - A song on Madonna's upcoming album dedicated to a Kabbalist rabbi is drawing criticism from other rabbis, the Israeli Maariv daily reported Sunday.
The album, "Confessions on a Dance Floor," is to be released on Nov. 15 and features a track entitled "Isaac" about Yitzhak Luria, a 16th century Jewish mystic and Kabbalah scholar.
Rabbi Rafael Cohen, head of a seminary named after Luria, suggested Madonna's actions could lead to divine retribution.
"Jewish law forbids the use of the name of the holy rabbi for profit. Her act is just simply unacceptable and I can only sympathize for her because of the punishment that she is going to receive from the heavens," Cohen told the newspaper.
Another rabbi called for Madonna to be thrown out of the community.
"Such a woman brings great sin on kabbalah," Rabbi Israel Deri told Maariv. "I hope that we will have the strength to prevent her from bringing sin upon the holiness of the rabbi (Yitzhak Luria)."
Madonna spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment Sunday.
The singer and actress was raised a Roman Catholic but has become a follower of Kabbalah in recent years and adopted the Hebrew name Esther. She made a much publicized visit to Israel in 2004, when she visited many sites important to Kabbalah, but didn't travel to Luria's grave.

The album, "Confessions on a Dance Floor," is to be released on Nov. 15 and features a track entitled "Isaac" about Yitzhak Luria, a 16th century Jewish mystic and Kabbalah scholar.
Rabbis who oversee Luria's tomb and a seminary in the northern town of Safed are unimpressed with Madonna's musical tribute and see the inclusion of the song about Luria on the album as an attempt by the pop star to profit from his name.
Rabbi Rafael Cohen, head of a seminary named after Luria, suggested Madonna's actions could lead to divine retribution.

"Hey man, you hear about the new Pope? Craziness. I was reading a tonne of stuff on him, including how he's going against everything he wrote down for Pope John-Paul as a his policy-maker because he always disagreed with it even while executing it; he wants mass now read only in Latin because he doesn't think people need to understand it to obey it; he wants the strictest and most authoritarian interpretation of Catholicism - including the explicit belief that ALL other religions are completely wrong; and he's forbidden local parishes from revealing the identities of Pedophile Priests to their local law-enforcement authorities, preferring the Church deal with everything internally - like they've been trying to do for years in transferring them to new parishes where they re-offend!"

correction to your original comment.
The person she's singing about was a scholar as you pointed out but not a "prophet". Jewish prophets ceased to exist after the destruction of the second temple.
Thanks for the tips, rich Republicans are cool with me as long as they stick with gettin' money-money and not acting funny, props for fighting African AIDS, let's keep movin' on cashin' chin-checks to systemic train-wrecks... :)
And shalom my fellow blogmeister, thank jew for setting me straight and sorry about that second temple getting destroyed, best of luck holdin' it down for jew crew in NYC, as a Hinjew I'll tradeja some raw tunage... :)
Cheers,
BK
