NYSikh and You Shall Not Find...

hey dad,

i know you'll definitely read about the 5 sikhs in new york being hauled off a tour bus and searched at gun-point on their knees because they "looked suspicious" - and the mayor's apology.

what i'm showing you here is a search of google.com's "news" section, where they search for news stories based on whatever you type in.

here, i typed "sikhs new york" into "google.com", and then clicked on "news" where they collect the latest stories. these are the first 10 results that popped up (i put an * asterisk beside them).

the point?

it's been 23 hours since the first story was reported according to this, and yet the only major western paper listed here is "The Guardian UK". it's a pretty good one, but the others have been shoved aside giving the whole thing less credibility.

in looking at a few, most of the stories were very short, and many including "The Guardian" end with:

"These things happen, don't they," the 39-year-old man, who gave his name as Jas, told the Daily News. "We have no hard feelings."

imagine if you looked below and saw "google news" listing CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, TIME, Newsweek, The NY Times, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, the BBC, and other heavyweights expressing outrage: that would make the story seem real important, and it's unfortunate, but you don't.

the "fact" is most american's can't tell the difference between "towel-heads", so sikhs are a logical extension of the muslim persecution doctrine...
